Well, at least it’s kinda ironic to die a heroic death after all that talk about not being a hero. He crumbles onto the quest bed with Jade. Dave is reeling from the pain when he gets another stab to his abdomen. In that second a sword stabs him in the back. In his moment of self depreciation he lets himself become distracted for a second. He should have been there to protect her. He catches another glimpse of Jade’s limp form. He’s drenched in sweat and his breaths are labored as he continues to block both attackers. He knew he wasn’t strong enough to pick a fight with both of the jack noir/jades weird dog hybrid things. They didn’t get enough time.ĭave was scared. He wonders how close they could have become if he didn’t up and die in this moment, but he would never know. Sure, Dave and him were friends by circumstance and lack of other willing parties, but their friendship was able to grow quite a bit after they started their reluctant hangouts. Hadn’t they just been talking about how they were gonna stay best bros after all this. Toward the end, due to a fair amount of drama, most of them weren’t even giving him the time of day, no except well….Dave. He thinks about the people he spent the past sweep and a half with. The fight had only just started for him and he didn’t even last a minute. He thinks about how many people he just let down. He hardly has time to recover from the wind being knocked outta him before he is stabbed twice through the stomach. He runs and jumps at Gamzee, but before he can even get a hit on him, he is grabbed. He doesn’t notice how he is able to pass Kanaya easily despite her enhanced rainbow drinker agility, something he commented on only moments ago. Watching Gamzee throw Terezi around like a rag doll filled him with the most unbridled rare he’s ever had. Usually this wouldn’t be anything quite new for him, but this time it was different.
